Botox – A Little Known Treatment for Excessive Sweating for Underarms
Now that summer has officially hit Redding, it’s time to talk about the dreaded side-effect of the 100°+ heat: excessive sweating. You sweat in everyday situations; when you are stressed or anxious, in a new situation, or when meeting new people. And you ruin all of your clothes. Renew has a little known solution for the excessive underarm sweat, and it doesn’t include changing shirts several times a day. The answer is Botox.
OnabotulinumtoxinA, better known as Botox, is a natural, purified protein that has the ability to temporarily block the secretion of the body’s chemical that is known to turn on the body’s sweat glands. The Botox turns off the chemicals in the areas it’s been injected by blocking or interrupting the chemical messenger. The Botox is injected just below the surface of the skin where it remains.
Research has shown that treating that excessive sweating in your armpits and other relatively small body areas, such as under the breasts with onabotulinumtoxinA is not only effective, but safe as well. Botox has show to decrease sweating by 82-87%. It can take 2 to 4 days for the treatment to start to take effect, with full effects usually noticed within 2 weeks. Treatment with Botox can help decrease your sweat for about 4 to 12 months, but has been known to last as long as 14 to 24 months. Botox is safe and effective to treat excessive sweating, known as hyperhidrosis, and results in consistent, long-lasting improvements.
Some might be concerned with Botox blocking the body’s ability to control temperature, but in reality, the underarms only contain about 2% of the body’s sweat glands. So, temporarily blocking the sweat glands has little to do with regulating the body’s temperature. Botox will not cure your hyperhidrosis. Your symptoms will go away gradually and return gradually, but it’s a great solution to the embarrassment caused by excessive sweating!
